Clifford Dale Reser, 85, passed away February 3, 2012 after a long battle with Alzheimer's disease. Dale grew up in Audubon, Iowa. He was active in athletics and drama. After high school he served in the US Army Air Force in World War II serving in the Pacific. From Japan he returned to Iowa where he married Ruth Rogers in 1949. They raised a family, moving from Fort Dodge to Des Moines in 1966. He was employed 37 years with Northwestern Bell Co. and retired in 1983.

Dale enjoyed traveling with his family, playing cards, and all sports. Dale volunteered at St. John's Catholic Church and school, coached his kids in baseball and softball many years and drove the Stepperette Drill Team bus to both New York and California. He was an active supporter of Dowling athletics. Dale competed on bowling teams and played golf. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. After retirement, Dale and Ruth spent their winters with family in Arizona.

Dale was preceded in death by Ruth, his wife of sixty years; sons Doug Reser and Larry Reser; brother Rex Reser, and sisters Joann Hutchins and Norma Jackson.

Dale is survived by daughters Roberta Shuey (Lowell) of Grimes, Mary Kay Reser (Brian Browning) of Des Moines, Patti Reser (Greg Joura) of Van Meter, and sons Ed Reser (Holly Lochbaum) of Hixson, TN, Phil Reser (Esther) of West Des Moines, Joe Reser (Ellie) of Des Moines and John Reser (Dawn) of West Des Moines; eleven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; brother Garland Reser of Glendale, AZ, and sister Joyce Jorgensen of Audubon.

Memorial contributions may be made to Dowling Catholic High School or the Alzheimer's Association of Central Iowa.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, 2012 at St. Mary of Nazareth Catholic Church. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Wed 08 Feb 2012.
