Elizabeth Jane Kalar Clouse, 79, passed away at her home May 15, 2011 from Alzheimer's .

Elizabeth was born October 1, 1931 to James and Ada (Brown) Heathcote in Des Moines. She was a daycare provider and owned Little Folks Childcare for 40 years.

Elizabeth is survived by her children, Belinda Dunegan, Joyce Kalar, Rebecca Sly and Merlin Kalar, Jr.; eight grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and siblings, Geneva Taber, Gloria Reynolds, Jim Heathcote, Bob Heathcote, Bill Heathcote and Etta Mae Kimmel. She was preceded in death by her husband, Merlin Kalar, Sr.; infant daughter, Patricia Kalar; and brothers, Jack and Charles Heathcote.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, 2011 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon St. followed by burial at Laurel Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, Tues 17 May 2011.
