Resided in Des Moines, IARobert D. Davis, 89, of Des Moines died Saturday, May 14, 2011 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 18 at Iles Funeral Homes-Westover Chapel. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.
Bob was born on November 7, 1921 in Des Moines to Sherman and Marjorie (Williams) Davis. He lived in Des Moines all of his life except for the years he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. Bob worked for 38 years as a Carrier for the U.S. Postal Service as well as working as Head Usher at Veterans Auditorium and Drake University. He was a member of First Christian Church, Waveland Park Masonic Lodge, Za Ga Zig Shrine, the Highland Park American Legion and "Forty and Eight" Club. He enjoyed watching sports, especially the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes.
Bob is survived by his son, Bradley Davis of Eagan, MN; daughter, Carolyn Frias of Phoenix, AZ; sister, Margaret (Donald) Swift of Des Moines; four grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to First Christian Church. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register Tues 17 May 2011.
