Resided in Des Moines, IALeon Alan Curtis, 68, passed from this life on Saturday, April 23, 2011 at Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines. In agreement with Leon's wishes, cremation rites have been accorded. A memorial service celebrating Leon's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, May 20, in the Masonic Mausoleum at Masonic Cemetery in Des Moines, with burial following in Masonic Cemetery.
Leon was born on May 7, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri to Earl Leslie and Hortense B. Williamson Curtis. He was a graduate of Roosevelt High School. Leon enjoyed traveling and spending time in Colorado. He resided with his parents and took care of both of them when they reached declining health. He was a loving, caring and devoted son, father, brother and uncle; Leon will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived and lovingly remembered by his son, Michael Alan Curtis of Runnells, IA; sister, Susan Jane (Tom) Lehman of West Liberty, IA; brother, Dayton Curtis of Seattle, WA; and several nieces and nephews. Leon was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Gary Dean Curtis; and one sister-in-law, Doris Curtis.
Memorial contributions may be made to either: Bright Kavanagh House in Des Moines or Westminster Presbyterian Church.
