The heavens are shining more brightly now that our beloved Shawn has been called home. After a hard fought battle with biliary cancer, our dear Shawn is sporting her sparkly rhinestone and diamond blinged angel wings in heaven with those who've gone before her.

Left to celebrate a life well lived are her three daughters, each an accomplished competition dancer, and in another semester, each a college graduate. Also celebrating is Shawn's step daughter Vanessa from Hawaii. Shawn's fiance will be joining the celebration along with a very large group of friends and family members whose lives are forever better for having known this talented and selfless woman.

Shawn is preceded in death by her father John Crooks, and her beloved mother Bernice whom we lost less than a year ago.

Services are scheduled for 11am on Tuesday, May 10th at The Ankeny First United Methodist Church at 206 SW Walnut. A casual reception is planned to follow the service at the VFW post 9662 on 66th Ave. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, Sun 08 May 2011.
