Formerly of Des MoinesMargaret passed away at age 94 on April 25, 2011 in Mesa, Arizona, her home for the past ten years.
Marge was born November 17, 1916 to Charles and Ora Hockmuth near Des Moines. One of nine brothers and sisters two of which survive her: Vivian Schlies of Johnston and Sally Hockmuth of Des Moines along with many nieces and nephews. Marge is also survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Jeanie and Kim Gardner of Mesa, Arizona as well as her step-grandson, Robert Gardner of LaGrande, Oregon. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 67 years, James (Jimmy) Ahern who passed in 2004.
Marge had lived in the Des Moines area for 84 years before retiring to Mesa. Living at the Springs of East Mesa, she was very active playing bridge as many times a week as possible and having her get-togethers with her numerous friends before evening meals almost every night.
She was very active all of her life, being a life member of Acanthus, Eastern Star, Past President of the American Legion #663 in Urbandale, Iowa, past president of Hyperion Country Club Women's Golf Association and a life long member of St. Paul Presbyterian Church.
Margaret will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her as she cared deeply for all.

Private services will be held at a later date with burial at Chapel Hill Cemetery in the "Praying Hands" section. Hamilton's Funeral Home is conducting local services. ~ The Des Moines (IA) Register, Sun 08 May 2011.
