Carmella L. Chiovaro, 89, passed away Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Genesis Senior Living Center in Des Moines. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Saturday, May 21, 2011 at St. Anthony Catholic Church with burial to follow at Glendale Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-8 p.m., Friday, at Brooks Funeral Care Tonini Chapel with a Rosary recited at 7.

Carmella Lucille Chiovaro, daughter of Joseph and Mary Angela (Talarico) Leo, was born February 28, 1922 in Des Moines. She graduated from Lincoln High School. Carmella loved spending time with her children and grandchildren, her family meant everything to her. She lived her entire life in the house she was born in.

Carmella was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Fred; her siblings: Joseph, Catherine, Peter and Charles Leo and Frances Funaro; and her granddaughter, Holly Hutchinson.

Those left to remember Carmella include her children: Sharon Wadle and James Chiovaro; four grandchildren: Kimberly (Trent) Powell, Michelle (Travis) Edwards, Eddie Wadle, and Adam (Shannon) Hutchinson; nine great-grandchildren; and her sisters, Rose Bisignano and Ann (Jim) McNeer.
