PIONEER IOWA STREET RAILWAY BUILDER DIES
John Weber, Sr., Succumbs After Being Hit by Des Moines Street Car.
John Weber, Sr., aged seventy-two one of the pioneer street railroad builders in the state, owner of the first brewery in Des Moines before the passage of the prohibition law and an extensive coal operator, is dead from pneumonia, which was superinduced by having two ribs broken when he was struck by a street car near his home in Sevastopol, Des Moines.
Weber was born in Eslinger, Germany, and came to America when seventeen years old. He was first a coal miner and later was an operator. He built the first street car line into Sevastopol and later sold it to the Polk interests. He leaves four children and much property.Transcriber’s Note: Find a Grave shows he is buried in Woodland Cemetery and was born September 7, 1837 and died January 7, 1910.

John Weber Passes Away.
John Weber. Sr., died at Mercy hospital from pneumonia, induced by injuries received when a street car hit the sleigh in which he was riding. He was 72 years old and a pioneer resident of Des Moines.
