PAINFUL DEATH – A man, 52 years of age, a Mr. Harty, resident of West Des Moines was slightly injured in one of his hands two or three weeks ago. He paid no special attention to the wound; and in a few days his hand began to swell to an immoderate size, and threatened serious consequences. The inflammation extended to his arm and shoulder; and it finally became a matter of necessity for him either to loose his arm, or his life. He refused to have the amputation preformed; and on Saturday last, mortification set in, and the suffering man died on Sunday morning.—State Register
