DROWNED-John Arnott, a citizen of Polk County, was drowned in the Des Moines River opposite this place on the 7th inst. It seems he was crossing on the ferry boat with a yoke of unruly cattle, which becoming frightened backed off the boat, carrying him with them. His body was recovered a few hours later.
