Obituary for Mr. James Bryan Tingle

James Bryan Tingle was born in Runnells Iowa on May 14, 1931 to Everett and Grace (Wallace) Tingle. He had two siblings, older brother John and younger brother Fred. Jim lived in Runnells most of his life. After high school he enlisted in the US Coast Guard. He then went to college at Graceland University and graduated from The University of Central Missouri. In 1958 he married Dianne Stiles and they were blessed with children Sheila, Sheri and Bryan.

In 1965 the family moved back to Runnells where Jim taught at Southeast Polk High school for almost 30 years before he retired in 1994. Jim was very involved with school activities taking photographs for the athletes at sporting events. He was well loved within the school community. For several years he was the pastor of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Runnells. Jim was always available, day or night, for anyone in need. He always cared and his kind and loving nature were sought by many. There was something extra special about Jim and all who knew him have their own personal stories of how he touched their lives. Jim was also a talented carpenter and woodworker. He always kept busy with special projects, building swings, cabinets and even houses. Jim also loved to fish and treasured time with his fishing buddies.

In 2004 he married Marjorie (Beth) McDaniel which added daughters Conni McDaniel Hall and Sherry McClain to his family. They made their home in Carlisle, Iowa.

He is preceded in death by his parents Grace and Everett Tingle, spouses Dianne Tingle and Beth Tingle, brother John Tingle, sister-in-law Wanda Tingle, nephews Troy Tingle and Jim Tingle, niece Vicki Davis, and son-in-laws Tom Hall and Daniel McClain.

He is survived by daughters Sheila Miller and Sheri (Brent Bennett) Tingle; son Bryan Tingle; daughters Conni McDaniel Hall and Sherry McClain; sister-in-law Marlou Tingle; brother Fred (Dee) Tingle; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren with a new great grandson soon to arrive; 1 great-great grandchild; the numerous nieces and nephews who were very close to their Uncle Jim; Michele Tingle; Alan Lane; his fishing and carpenter buddies; and many dear friends he has cherished for years.

Visitation with the family will be held on Sunday, March 24, 2019 from 2-5 PM at the Peterson Funeral Home in Carlisle, Iowa. A Celebration of Life is scheduled for Saturday, May 18 beginning at 3 PM at the Christian Church in Runnells, Iowa. Please come and celebrate the life of an amazing man who has touched so many lives in ways too numerous to list.
