The Deceased was a Son-in-law of General Weaver and Well Known Here
Monday’s Register and Leader has this to say of the accident.
Edgar G. Cohrt, agent for the Canadian Pacific R.R. Land Company, was drowned while bathing at Alexandria, Minn., yesterday according to word received yesterday by relatives in Des Moines.
Mr. Cohrt accompanied by his wife and infant son, left Des Moines last Wednesday morning with Dr. John W. Martin and his family to drive to Cass Lake, Minnesota, for a vacation and were enroute to that place when Mr. Cohrt lost his life. No details of the accident were received in Des Moines last night. Dr. Martin telegraphed that he would bring Mr. Cohrt’s body to Des Moines today.
Mr. Cohrt was well-known in Des Moines among real estate men, having come here about three years ago from Traer, Iowa, after a few months spent in Cedar Rapids.
He is survived by his wife who was the youngest daughter of the late Gen. James B. Weaver, by a son less than two years old and his mother, who still makes her home in Traer.
Funeral arrangements will not be made until after the arrival of Mrs. Cohrt in Des Moines.
