December 6, 1953 - February 15, 2007
Resided in Des Moines, IA

Thomas Charles Brown passed to a greater place on February 15. Affectionately called "Derber", Tom was a compassionate, caring friend to all the people and pets fortunate to have known him. He was passionate in all his endeavors, professionally and socially. He loved music and was an ardent fan of the Iowa and Chicago Cubs, Bears, Boston Red Sox and virtually every sporting contest. He was always the first to cheer especially for rookies and kids. To know Tom was to love him. He was always gently there when help was needed and never expected or asked a return for his acts of kindness.

Preceded in death by his father, Thomas Francis Brown; Tom is survived by his mother, Carol of Des Moines; Siblings: Sandi (Bob) Dean of Ft. Collins, CO, Brad (Judy) Brown pf Poolsville, MD, Bob (Jeanne) Brown of West Des Moines, Karen (John) Lindsey of Mobile, AL; nieces and nephews: Kevin, Kacie, Erin, Ted, John and Chris; his life love and companion, Martha Hatfield of Exira, IA and countless friends who will always remember his zest for life and endearing humor.

He was an extraordinary craftsman at window dressings and life. Honesty and fellowship were his trademark qualities. The words of a thousand books could never recount the joy he brought to so many of people's lives he touched.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, February 21, at Dunn's Funeral Home. Our community and the world will miss him greatly for we are lesser without him.

In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the donor’s choice.

As a man of peace, so may he rest.
