Sara Kay Childress, 69, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 29, 2012 at Taylor House Hospice. Family will greet friends on Wednesday, October 3, 2012 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Hamilton's on Westown Parkway, 3601 Westown Parkway in West Des Moines. Graveside services will follow at Highland Cemetery in Mystic, IA.

Sara was born on January 1, 1943 in Brazil, IA to Michael and Janie (Stewart) Stout. She was a devoted mother and homemaker. She enjoyed spending time with her family and cherished visits and phone calls from her daughters who reside in Texas. Sara was also a gifted piano player and had a wonderful sense of humor.

She is survived by her husband, J. Craig Childress; daughters, Karla Leeper, Rhonda Elkins and Amy Hilgemeier; siblings, Harold Stout, Charlesene Stout, Nola Stout and Marcella Ansley; grandchildren, Jeremy Porter and Tracy Stephenson.
