1922 - 2011 Obituary Condolences

Frances Mu?oz went to be with her Lord and Savior May 16, 2011 while at Taylor House, after being diagnosed with breast cancer two years ago.

Frances was born April 1, 1922 in Colfax to Claudio and Pauline Bernardino. She began working for Look Magazine and retired from Meredith Publishing in 1981. After retirement, Frances and her husband, Lupe traveled to many interesting sites throughout the country. Frances felt blessed as she had three special children whom she loved very much. She was also blessed with a extraordinary cancer doctor, Dr. Puri, at Mercy Medical Cancer Center. Frances was a life long member of Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, formerly Visitation Catholic Church. She also enjoyed going to Prairie Meadows.

Frances is survived by her husband of 71 years, Lupe; children, Gary (Deborah) Munoz, Janet Maldonado and Jon Munoz; sister, Carmen Bernardino; favorite niece, Vicki Fagerstrom; grandchildren, Renee Allison, Anthony Munoz, Michael (Robyn) Munoz, Jane Tucker and Penny Hutzel-Nuzum; 13 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Salvador and Lucas Bernardino.

Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, May 20, 2011 at Our Lady of the Americas Catholic Church, 1271 E. 9th St. with visitation one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Taylor House or Our Lady of the Americas Capital Campaign Fund. ~ The Des Moines, Register, Des Moines, Iowa Thur 19 May 2011.
