One of the largest funerals that ever took place in Polk county was that of Mrs. Martha Nagle, which occurred from the home of Squire Nagle, in Saylor township, yesterday. Mrs. Nagle died on Tuesday last, in the 39th year of her age. She was born February 29, 1844 in Licking county, Ohio, moved to Iowa when very young, and has been a resident of Polk county for twenty-nine years. She became the wife of Webster Nagle, August 19, 1862, and was the eldest daughter of Mrs. Elizabeth Leggett. Mrs. Nagle was a woman universally liked and respected among those who became acquainted with her, and won her way into the affection of the Squire Nagle and his family with such tenderness as to be considered with all the love that is tendered often to an only daughter. The large funeral cortege was a tribute of the esteem in which she was held. She was buried in Saylorville cemetery, Rev. W.F. Harned, of the East Side, officiating at the funeral services.
