Marie Boomershine, 97, passed away Friday, February 8, 2013, at Regency Care Center in Norwalk, IA. Marie was born August 29, 1915, to Harry and Freda (Lamb) Woods.

On March 23, 1935, she married Milton Boomershine and they raised three children, Milton, Jr. (Snookie) (Donna), Harold (Bud) (Linda) and Donna (George Shepherd). Marie had eleven grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband; son, Harold; grandson, Doug; her parents; four brothers and one sister.

Marie's love for her family and husband was made evident in everything she did. She had a special gift for making everyone feel special and loved. Marie put her family's needs and wants before her own and was one of the greatest of the "Greatest Generation" who always carried herself with class and dignity.

A memorial service celebrating her life will be at 11 a.m., Wednesday, February 13, at Brooks South Town Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Sunset Memorial Gardens.Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.

The family would like to thank the staff at Regency Care Center and Iowa Hospice for the loving and compassionate care they gave Marie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Iowa Hospice.
