Emilie Duimstra, 74, died on November 23, 2012 at Iowa Methodist Medical Center. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, November 29 at Plymouth Congregational Church of which she was a member.

Emilie was born February 11, 1938 in Sibley, Iowa, the daughter of Hilda (Campbell) and Rev. Lawrence Havighurst. She attended Cornell College and graduated from Iowa State University in 1960. On August 28, 1960, she was united in marriage to Dave Duimstra and they were blessed with two children.

Emilie worked for Iowa State University Extension and Polk County Government as an Administrative Analyst, retiring in 1998. Emilie was a past president of American Association of University Women (AAUW). Emilie and Dave traveled extensively during retirement and spent the last 12 winters at their home in Arizona.

Emilie is survived by her husband, Dave; children, Jenny (John) Fender of Des Moines and Peter (Agness) Duimstra of Tokyo, Japan; grandchildren, Henry, Thomas and Ada Fender; siblings, Connie Bagenstos of Tracy, MN, Nancy (Ron) Smith of Fresno, CA, David Havighurst of Iowa City, Jon (Jane) Havighurst of Allentown, PA, Carol (Steve) Tompkins of Lincoln, RI and Mark (Barb) Havighurst of Des Moines.
