Born in Des Moines, Iowa to Cecil Thompson and Letha Brown. She was raised by Catherine Yvette Thompson. Karen is survived by her husband of 43 years, Roger L. Lewis; children, Kathy Linn Smallwood, Gary Robert Hawkins Jr., Michael Duron Lewis and Leslie Ann Ware; four sisters; four brothers; nine grandchildren; numerous loving aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends Friday, November 30, 6 to 8 p.m. at the West Center Chapel of Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler in Omaha. SERVICES Saturday, December 1 at 9:30 a.m. at the West Center Chapel. Interment: Evergreen Memorial Park in Omaha. Memorials are suggested to the Omaha Public Library Foundation.
