Calvin Kinzer Johnson
Booneville

Our treasured husband, father, and friend was released into the loving arms of Jesus on Thursday morning, November 29, at his home in Booneville. A celebration service of his life will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, December 3, at Valley Evangelical Free Church, 4343 Fuller Road, West Des Moines.

Calvin was born the son of the late Dr. Calvin E. Johnson and Ruth Kinzer Johnson on July 8, 1952, in Des Moines, Iowa. His early years where spent exploring the woods behind the Johnsons' family pet hospital on 27th Street and working his first job as the honey bucket boy. As a young boy he was involved in showing cattle in 4-H and had a love for animals and nature. He graduated from Valley High School in 1970 and attended Colorado State University, studying farm managment. Upon his return to Iowa he started a tree-spade business called Instant Evergreens, and his love for farming lead him to work on the family farm raising over 300 head of semintal cattle. On July 26, 1980, he married his soulmate Glenda Yvonne in Cumming, Iowa. Together they owned and operated Johnson's Nursery and Landscaping business for over 13 years. During this time they had 2 children, Benjamin and Megan. In October 1996 Calvin began working for Ecolab Corportation and was with the company for 16 years. His favorite love and hobbies where to be in nature, hunt, fish, boating, mowing and driving his restored John Deere tractor around Booneville.

He is survived by his wife, Glenda Johnson of Booneville; his two children, a son, Benjamin Johnson, and a daughter, Megan Johnson, both of West Des Moines; two sisters, Mary Ann Eckey (Reed) and Nancy Jean Johnson of Texas; a niece, Carrie Cook (Aaron) of Phoenix and a nephew, Nate Walker of Chicago; and two very special little scotties, Jazzie and Jake. Calvin was proceeded into eternal life by his parents.
