Thomas "Tom" Mercer, 66, passed away on July 8, 2013. Tom tried not to take life too seriously and found humor in every aspect of life. He enjoyed fishing, his dog Muddy, but his true pride and joy were his grandchildren. You could find him visiting every weekend with goodies in hand. He wasn't a man of many words, but everyone close to him knew how much he loved and supported them. No one knew this more than Linda. The woman he spent his life loving. Finally Tom can be reunited with his first love, where together they will be able to spend eternity watching over the family they created together. Keeping them safe. The love Tom and Linda shared stands the test of time and space.

Tom will be remembered by his children; Paul (Tiffany) Mercer and Shelley (Josh) Manning as well as his grandchildren Adriana and Chevelle Mercer and Taylor, Carter, and Cambria Manning. Funeral Services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 13, 2013 at Grandview Park Funeral Home in Des Moines, followed by the burial at Oakwood Cemetery in Pleasant Hill. A visitation will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday July 12, 2013 at Grandview Park Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to his children.
