Wm. M. Patchen, one of the oldest residents of the city, died at the residence of T. S. McKelvey, January 13, 1896. Mr. Patchen, one of the oldest residents of the city, was born in ___ga county, New York, April 11, 1819. He came, to Des Moines in 1857; was elected city marshal in 1873, and was connected with the police force of the city for several years. His last illness was of short duration, being a paralytic stroke, which attacked him on Thursday. He was at no time fully conscious after the attack.
