Lucille I. McDowell. 84, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2012 at Iowa Lutheran Hospital in Des Moines. Burial will take place at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 22, at Sunny Hill Cemetery in Grimes, IA.

She was born on July 26, 1927 in Prole, Iowa to Glen and Pearl Irene (Utsler) Ray. Lucille was a 1941 graduate of Urbandale High School. Following graduation, she worked at Look Magazine. Lucille was formerly employed in the Hot Lunch Program with Urbandale Schools for 25 years, retiring in 1990.

She is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Becky L. (Chris) Major of Prescott Valley, AZ; grandchildren, Chad L. (Rachel) McDowell of Round Rock, TX, Shane R. Luing of Urbandale and Brandy L. Luing of Mesa, AZ; great-grandchildren, Ashley of Prescott Valley, Jenna of Round Rock, and Taylor, Devin, Jesse, Brooke and Easton all of Mesa; and nieces and nephews. Lucille was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Monahan; and husband of 63 years, George M. McDowell on January 1, 2010.

Visitation will be held for one hour from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., on Tuesday, May 22, at Iles Funeral Homes - Westover Chapel in Des Moines.
