DEATH CLAIMS E.[sic] W. MARQUARDT

Mr. George W. MARQUARDT, age 89, is dead in Glenwood Springs, Colo., says a message to his daughter, Mrs. Della (H. H.) COGGESHALL, at Des Moines.
He was one of the signers for the original charter, granted the First National bank[sic] of Iowa City, in 186_. That bank opened its doors to business on July 13, 1863, and has been in business continually 68 years since. He was a member of the directorate many years. Later he founded and was president for 2_ years, of MARQUARDT Savings bank[sic] of Des Moines, where he lived, until he went west. His sons, William and C. Grant MARQUARDT (the latter an alumnus of S. U. I[sic] class of 1885; and three daughters, Mrs. COGGESHALL, Effie and Lillian survive.
Many old friends in Iowa City will grieve to learn of his death.
