The following poem was used on the memorial card at his funeral:
I've Done My Best
When I lie down at night to rest
I say this day I've done my best.
I've tried to use the precious time
That some folks spend in ease or crime.
I've tried to make this world a place
Where smiles not frowns adorn the face.
I've tried to feather my own nest
And work as well for all the rest.
When I lie down at night to rest
I say this day I've done my best.
