Jim Moran, 62, passed away unexpectedly on June 30, 2011 due to complications from cancer surgery.

Jim was born on June 23, 1949 in Des Moines to Florence (Fenton) and Thomas Moran. He owned Moran's Cafeteria for many years as well as Good Foods, Inc. Most recently he was employed by Ingersoll Dahl's in the cafeteria. Jim enjoyed working with his hands remodeling his family's homes and working in his yard. He loved spending time with his family and riding the Union Park Heritage Carousel with his grandchildren. Big Jim was a larger than life Irishman who was quiet in his generosity and vocal in his opinions. His humor and words of wisdom will be missed by all who knew him.

Jim is survived by his wife of almost 43 years, Sandi; children, Jim (Kristan) Moran, Erin (Trent) DeVreugd, Meghan (Jack) Daugherty, and Bridget (Matt Lester) Moran; grandchildren, Liam and Aidan Moran, Tommy, Lindsey and Joey DeVreugd, Finn, Tess and Cass Daugherty; siblings, Jane (Bob) Sukup and John (Carol) Moran; and a host of other family and beloved friends. He was preceded in death by his son, Rich Moran; parents, Thomas and Florence Moran; and brothers, Jerry Moran and Thomas "Pat" Moran.

All services will be held at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, on Tuesday, July 5, 2011. Visitation will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. followed immediately by funeral services at 2 p.m.
