John Brouwer, 71, passed away peacefully at his home with his family by his side on Tuesday, April 12, 2011.

Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home with a potluck following at Stranded, 1922 Hubbell Ave., for all family and friends.

Funeral service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, April 18, 2011 at Hamilton's Funeral Home, 605 Lyon Street, with burial following at Vandalia Cemetery.

John is survived by his wife of 53 years, Janice; son, Jeff (Shelley) Brouwer; daughters, Janeen (Larry) Marchant, Joy (David) Howard and Jill Brouwer (Steve Dare); eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Connie) Brouwer; sister, Judi (Stan) VanHemert; and many nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Charlotte and Henry; and by his grandson, Jesse James Johnston.
