Des Moines Rites for Lynn Vance

Lynn (Jim) Vance, a former Winterset resident, died at the Veterans Hospital in Des Moines on Wednesday, April 16. He was 84 years of age.

Mr. Vance was born near Des Moines on October 10, 1890, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Walter H. Vance. He spent his early life in Winterset, and went to school in this community.

A veteran of World War I, Mr. Vance served with the famed Rainbow division. He was a member of the American Legion.

Survivors include his wife, Alice, a son, Wallace Lynn; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Also surviving are tow brothers, Robert Vance of Sidney and George Vance of Winterset; and one sister, Mrs. Mary Barr of Winterset.

Funeral services were held at 3:00 p.m. Friday, April 18 at the Hamilton Funeral Home in Des Moines. Burial was in the Laurel Hill Cemetery in Des Moines.
