Richard Ackelson, 78, passed away on December 13, 2009. Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, December 15, at Sunset Chapel, 7601 Fleur Drive, Des Moines, Iowa.
Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, December 16, at Sunset Chapel with interment following at Sunset Cemetery.
Richard was born on October 6, 1931 in Peru, iowa. He is a veteran of the US Air Force.
Richard will be missed by granddaughters, Ashley Ackelson, Melanie Ackelson, and Crystal Kirkpatrick, all of Des Moines; two great-grandsons, Cole and Chance Collison of Des Moines; daughter-in-law, Tamara Ackelson of Des Moines; and many other family members.
He is preceded in death by his wives, Lilla Fern Ackelson and Artis Ackelson; and son, Kim Bruce (KB) Ackelson.
