William Statler Rites Saturday

Services for William M. Statler, 87, of 2124 E. Twenty-third St., who died Wednesday at Iowa Lutheran Hospital of complications from a hip fracture, will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Hamilton Funeral Home. Burial will be in Laurel Hill Cemetery.

A native of Oxford, Ind., Mr. Statler came to Des Moines in 1894. He was a facility supervisor for Northwestern Bell Telephone Co. before retiring in 1938. He was a member of Grant Park Christian Church and the Hawkeye Chapter of the Telephone Pioneers of America.

Surviving are his widow, Delia; a son, Frank of Hyattsville, Md.; a daughter, Mrs. Ruth Wycoff of Milwaukee, Wis. and two grandsons.
