Bea Faber, 85, died Monday, December 31, 2007 at Mercy Medical Center in Des Moines. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Grace United Methodist Church of which she was a member. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery.

Beatrice Mary Sladek Faber was born in Iowa City and lived in Cedar Rapids for many years before moving to Des Moines in 1974. She dedicated her life to making a home for her husband, Robert, and their two children. Her grandchildren remember her as a "Good Cooker." Bea enjoyed playing bridge and flower gardening. She loved spending summers in Northern Minnesota with her family at the lake.

Bea is survived by her daughter, Ann (Rodney) McDonald of Missouri; son, Mike Faber of Des Moines; niece, Debbie Fischer; six grandchildren, Matthew and Paul McDonald, Katie Phillips, Jeremy and James Faber and Melissa Pritchard; and seven great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert and sister, Jeanne Frey.

The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Iles Funeral Homes-Dunn's Chapel. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation.
