LEGGETT, J. W.-Farmer, section 22 (Madison Twp.), P. O. Polk City. Was born in Ohio, September 10, 1839,and at the age of thirteen years moved with his parents to Indiana, and from there came to this county. After obtaining his education, he engaged in farming. He is the owner of a farm of eighty-five acres, improved. In January, 1864, he enlisted in the First Iowa battery, and served until the close of the war, when he was honorably discharged. Was married in this county, January 13, 1864, to Miss Margaret Latta. They are the parents of four children: Charlie E., Mary G., Cora E. and William L.
