DIED

On Friday, Oct. 4, 1889, of typhoid fever, Geo. W Hawley, aged 40 years, 3 months, and 18 days.

Thus, has death entered our midst and taken from us active, useful citizen. Mr. Hawley was born in Ontario, Can., in 1843. In 1860 he removed to Lawrence County, N. Y., and in 1806 was married to Miss Mary Furness, at Ogdensburg, N. Y. To them have been born nine children, all of whom are now living at Rolfe. In 1880 he removed with his family to Marshall township, this county, where he engaged in farming. Two years ago, he came to Rolfe and went into the livery business, and gave his attention to this until his death. Mr. Hawley has been a professor of religion for twenty-six years, and at his death was a respected member of the M. E. church of this place. He was an enterprising, progressing citizen, a kind husband, and a father. A few weeks since he commenced the erection of a substantial improvement to our town in the shape of a large livery stable, which building was well along toward completion at the time of his death, and which he leaves as a mark of his enterprise. Besides his wife and children, he leaves a large circle of friends to mourn his decease. May the God in whom he anchored his faith be with the bereaved ones to sustain and uphold them in their affliction. The funeral occurred at the M. E. church, last Saturday, presided over by Rev. Arman, and the remains were laid to rest in the Rolfe cemetery
