Kenneth Garner Boehm, 89, passed into paradise on Friday, February 15, 2013. Throughout his life, Kenneth was a very generous and giving person. In agreement with his utmost desire and wishes, his body was gifted to the Body Donor Program at Des Moines University for anatomical and surgical studies. A memorial service celebrating Kenneth's life will be held 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 2, at First Assembly of God Church, located at 2725 Merle Hay Road, in Des Moines.

Kenneth was born on November 17, 1923, in Pocahontas, Iowa, one of seven children to John Frederick and Leta Jeannette (Tjarks) Boehm. In 1950, he married Dorothy Ann Nelson in Sioux Falls, SD, and their marriage was blessed with three sons: Kent, Mark and Paul. Kenneth was a veteran of World War II and was honorably discharged from his service in the US Army. He was a graduate of Sioux Falls College. Kenneth was employed as an electrician and was a member of the IBEW Union for over 50 years. During his adolescence, college years, and while in the US Army, he was actively involved in boxing. Kenneth was a general sports enthusiast, and took pride coaching all three of his sons in Little League Baseball and Football. He loved spending time with his family and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

He is survived and lovingly remembered by his three sons, Kent (Judy) Boehm of Lawson, MO, Mark (Diane) Boehm of Urbandale and Paul (Sandy) Boehm of Castle Rock, CO; sister, Eleanor Twigg of Holt, MO; brother, John William "Mick" Boehm of Clear Lake, IA; nine grandchildren, Annabelle Boehm, Emily (J.D.) Duncan, Kimberly Boehm, Janey Boehm, Nate Boehm, Beth (Adam) Clark, Tessa Boehm, Sari Boehm and Brandon Boehm; and two great-grandchildren, Stella Duncan and Lillian Clark.

Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Herb Boehm, Harold "Skip" Boehm and Donald "Bud" Boehm; one sister, Lorraine Boehm; wife, Dorothy Boehm; and one great-granddaughter, June Clark.

The family has respectfully requested that any memorial contributions be made in Kenneth Boehm's name to Hospice of Central Iowa, 2910 Westown Parkway, Suite 200; West Des Moines, IA 50266. ~ The Des Moines Register, Des Moines, Iowa 28 Feb 2013.
