Loraine Runneberg ,age 84, passed away on January 11, 2014, at the Laurens Care Center.

L.D. Runneberg was born on Septermber 21, 1929, near Laurens,Iowa. He was the son of Lawrence and Alma (Skogstrom) Runneberg. L.D. graduated from Laurens high School in 1948. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War from August of 1948 to August of 1952. After his discharge, L.D. worked in telephone communications in several states until 1958. In 1958, L.D. started farming and was in the cattle business. In 1994, he retired and moved into Laurens.

L.D. was a member of the First Christian Church and the V.F.W. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and generally being outdoors.

Survivors include his son: Del of Leland; grandchildren: Abby and Tyler, both of Forest City; great-grandaughters: Teagan and Brynn; sister: Carolyn Perry of Laurens and special friend, Jean Lawman.

L.D. was preceded in death by his parents, son Rodney, sister Helen Jolliffe, brother Darwin Runneberg and former wife Marilyn Bowman.
