DEATH OF JAS. THOMPSON

James Thompson, a long time and respected resident of Fonda, died at his home here last Saturday morning, after several weeks illness at the age of 63 years, 11 months and 12 days. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon from the Presbyterian church, Rev. D.G. Luke officiating, assisted by members of the Masonic and I.O.O.F. Lodges, of which Mr. Thompson was a member for many years. Interment was in Cedar cemetery.

Jas. H. Thompson, son of Geo. E. and Evaline E. Thompson was born in Indiana County, Pa., June 16, 1863.

In 1866 he moved with his parents to Aledo, Illinois. After three years residence at the latter place they moved to Dallas County, Ia. In September 1870 the family moved to a homestead in Pocahontas County, near Fonda, where he grew to manhood, and where he has spent the greater part of his life.

On December 22, 1898 he was united in marriage to Lulu Speilman, a native of Pocahontas county. To this union three children were born, as follows Mrs. Fern Abbott, of Newton, Ia.; Mrs. Eva Disterhoft, of *Meringo, Ia., and Wayne who is at home.

Mr. Thompson leaves to mourn his death, his widow, two daughters, and one son. Also two grandsons, James and Robert Abbott. Two brothers Cyrus and John Thompson and one sister Mrs. Fannie Sayre.
