Carl William Ellis Runneberg was born July 19, 1908, the son of Nels and Alm'a Swenson Runneberg. He died Saturday, March 26, 1977, at the Pocahontas Community Hospital of complications following surgery.
Born in Palo Alto County, Mr. Runneberg had lived in the Laurens area -all of his life, toeing educated ait the Cummins Township School.
He married Edna Stover in services at Salina, Kansas, February 5, 1936. They had farmed in this area until moving into Laurens in 1966. He was a member of Bethany Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Edna; sons Jerry of Laurens a'nd Luverne of Spencer; daughters Mrs. Edwin (Eileen) Burkmire of Elkhart, Indiana, Mrs. Norman (Elai'ne) Jarrett of Goshen, Indiana, and Sheryl of Fort Dodge; 16 grandchildren; brothers Arnold and Emmett of Laurens, and Lawrence of Spirit Lake; and a sister, Mrs. Everett (Alice) Bohn of Curlew.
Mr. Runneberg was preceded i'n death by his parents and two sisters, Florence and Petu'nia.
