Harvey Vaux Buried Sunday

Deceased Was Resident of Pocahontas for over Thirty Years

Funeral services were held here Sunday for Harvey Vaux, a former resident of Pocahontas who died Friday at Fort Dodge. Rev. S.T. Grove officiated at the services held at the Pocahontas M.E. church.

Harvey Vaux was born in Bureau county, Illinois, January 28th, 1867 to Richard M. and Susan Vaux. Moving with his family to Green county Iowa age the age of five and making this their home for fifteen years. Then he moved to Bayard Iowa to begin his life work as carpenter and contractor.

On September 20th, 1893 he was united in marriage to Sarah A. Love at Bayard and to this union were born five children, Mrs. Ethel Rosendahl and Mrs. Edith Siglin of Fort Dodge, Mrs. Blanche Speer of Mallard, Ross H. Vaux of West Bend and Mrs. Ruth Baier of Peterson, Iowa.

The first two years of their married life were spent at Bayard and in 1895 they came to Fonda where they lived until 1899, then moving to Pocahontas, continuing their residence there for a period of thirty years. Since that time they have lived at Mallard, Pocahontas and Sioux Rapids, but just a month previous to his death moved to a residence near Fort Dodge.

Mr. Vaux had been in his usual health until Thursday evening when he was stricken with an attack of acute indigestion. The following day he seemed somewhat improved but within an hour his condition changed and he passed away about 12:30 p.m.

Beside the faithful wife and family he is survived by one sister and five brothers, ten grandchildren and other relatives and friends

Short funeral services were held Sunday Oct. 4th at 12:30 at the home with the Rev. Zabilka of the Riverside M.E. church of Fort Dodge officiating and two o'clock at the M.E. church in Pocahontas with Rev. S.T. Grove in charge with all members of the immediate family present. The resting place was made at Summit Hill cemetery.

Vaux of West Bend; Mr. and Mrs. Lamont Baier of Peterson; Evelyn Vaux of Linden; Earnest Vaux of Brewster, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. Elba McClellan and son James of Rockwell City, Mr. and Mrs. John Vaux and son of Lohrville; Mrs Mary Huss and son Clarence, Mrs. V.S. Doty; Z.T. Love; Mr. and Mrs. Henry McClellan, Mr. and Mrs. Ward McClellan and baby of Bayard; John Love, Mr. and Mrs. Garnet Love and children of Creston; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Baier, Mrs. John Baier, Mrs. Albert Woolridge of Peterson; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Plumbly, Mr. and Mrs. Ed Plumbly of Ralson; Mrs. Oaura George, Mrs. Fred McNabe of Carroll; Mrs. Elizabeth Rosendahl of Manson; Mr. and Mrs. N. Siglin, Mr. and Mrs. John Rosendahl, Mrs. Harvey Vaux, and Herman Rosendahl and children of Fort Dodge.
