Eleanor Annette neeKeane Strathman, age 79, of Pocahontas, died August 29, 2004 at the Pocahontas Community Hospital from cancer.
Funeral services are at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday September 1, 2004 at the Church of the Resurrection of Our Lord at Pocahontas with Father Merle Kollasch officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 2:00 to 4:00 and 6:00 to 8:00 with family present. Burial at Calvary Cemetery in Pocahontas.
Eleanor Annette Strathman was born to Eleanor (Stessman) and William Keane on August 10, 1925 in Panama Iowa. She attended school in Panama and graduated in Omaha, Nebraska. She then attended and graduated from St. Catherine’s School of Nursing at Creighton University in 1946 at which time she met Eugene ( Tike) Strathman. After graduating she worked for the V.A. Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa for one year. Tike and Annette were married on November 5, 1947 in Montebello, Ca. They made their home in Pocahontas until 1983 when they moved to Phoenix, Arizona in retirement. They returned to Pocahontas in 1990.Annette loved raising her six children, working with Tike in his Studio business and serving on her church committees. In her spare time she enjoyed her grandchildren, gardening, sewing and golf. She was a member of Resurrection of Our Lord Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband Eugene (Tike);sons, William Strathman of Phoenix, AZ, Paul (Joy) Strathman of Ballwin, MO.; daughters, Cheryl (Fred) Anderson of South Lyon, MI, Jean (Larry) Peterson of Rolfe IA, Sheila (Stan) Anderson of New Hope MN, and Jill (John) Breczinski of Golden Valley MN.; twelve grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bette Bartlett, Millie Lee and Marion Foran all of California.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother William Keane, and sister Dolores “Lori” Shafter. Annette died from a sinus melanoma.
