Rolfe, Oct. 29 – At 5:15 this morning fire completely gutted the Hotel Tremont at this place. The hotel is situated on the east side and the south end of the principal business street of the town. A strong wind was blowing from the southeast and the fire was in the southeast corner of the building. The fire was under good headway when the fire company arrived, and with the wind in their favor, it looked as if the town was doomed. The fire boys worked like fiends for an hour and were rewarded by seeing the fire under control. The building was burning from the southeast to the northwest corner. The charred frame stands as a testimonial to the efficiency of our fire company and water works system. All who see the wreck marveled that the fire was confined to the building. The building was valued at $6,000 and was insured for $3,500.
