Of the State of IowaIn all Iowa you won’t find a more unusual couple than Mr. and Mrs. Julius White of Rolfe, Pocahontas County, who recently celebrated their 68th wedding anniversary. White, 90, who is probably the oldest active watch and clock repairman in the country. He and his wife came to Pocahontas County 54 years ago, before there was a Rolfe. He farmed and repaired watches and clocks on the side. When Rolfe was founded the White’s moved in and they’re still going strong. Commenting on their 68 years of wedded bliss, White says “Selfishness is the rust that ruins the hair spring of marriage.”
