Obituaries--Edwin Wendt

Edwin Henry Wendt, 70, of rural LeMars died Wednesday (May 29, 1985) at the Akron Community Hospital after a two-month illness.

Funeral will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Plymouth Presbyterian Church with Rev. Hatty Duncan officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

He was born Nov. 13, 1914, in Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada to Christian D. and Laurinda Hamilton Wendt. He graduated from LeMars High School. His marriage to Elaine Donlin took place Jan. 17, 1942, at Tekamah, Neb. He was a member of Plymouth Presbyterian Church and Wasmer Post 241, American Legion.

Mr. Wendt served three years in World War II as a power turret and gunsight mechanic with the 489th Bomb Squad in Africa, Sicily, Italy and France. He later farmed in Plymouth County and worked at Plymouth Co-op Oil Station in LeMars until his retirement in 1982.

Survivors are his wife, Elaine of LeMars; a daughter, Mrs. Lee Bell of Des Moines; a grandson, Christopher Bell of Des Moines; three brothers, George Wendt of Sioux City, Roy Wendt of Logan, Utah, and Ralph Wendt of LeMars.
