Obituary--Mae L. Reeves

Mae L. Reeves, 89, of LeMars died Friday, July 14, 2000, at the Merrill Pioneer Community Hospital in Rock Rapids.

Mae Lillian Bock was born May 26, 1911, on the family farm in Liberty Township, rural Plymouth County, the daughter of Paul and Lillian (Krusemark) Bock. When Mae was two years old her family moved to LeMars. She attended LeMars Central High School. On Feb. 21, 1931, she married Clarence Reeves in LeMars. Mae and Clarence farmed near Seney, for 25 years. In 1955 Mae and Clarence moved to LeMars. Clarence died April 20, 1974 (error--April 25).

For the last seven months, Mae had lived at the Premier Estates in Rock Rapids to be near her daughter, Doris.

Mae has been a longtime member of the Church of the Nazarene where she has been active with the ladies group and also a member of the Christian Women's Club.

Mae enjoyed playing the organ and singing. In her spare time, she enjoyed gardening, canning, and reading.

Survivors include a son and daughter-in-law, Cletus and Dana Reeves of Naples, Fla.; a daughter and son-in-law, Doris and Don Calkins of Rock Rapids; a sister and brother-in-law, Gladys and Al Heeren of LeMars; a brother, Warren Bock of LeMars; four grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and many friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Clarence; and two brothers, Lloyd and Lawrence Bock.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home with the Rev. Leonard Waller of the Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Resthaven Memory Gardens Cemetery, LeMars. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to service time Tuesday morning at the funeral home.

Memorials have been established with the American Cancer Society and the Alzheimer's Association.
