Obituaries--Robert C. Hodgson
Longtime Area Man Dies on Saturday

Robert C. Hodgson, 91, LeMars, died Saturday February 20, 1993, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center.

Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Calvary United Methodist Church in LeMars with the Rev. Wayne Gjerde officiating. Burial will be in LeMars Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Monday, with the family present 7-8 p.m., at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home.

Mr. Hodgson ws born Aug. 12, 1901, in Stanton Township near LeMars, son of Robert and Sarah (Bainbridge) Hodgson. He attended Stanton school No. 5 and LeMars High School. He married Mary McKinley Aug. 18, 1928, at Cedar Falls. They farmed in Stanton township until retiring to LeMars in 1963.

He was a member of the Merrill Stanton EUB Church until they moved to LeMars. He was a member of Calvary United Methodist Church and the Plymouth County Farm Bureau. He organized the Stanton Lucky Clovers 4-H Club and led it for five years. He was a lifelong county resident.

Survivors include his wife, two sons, both of LeMars, R. James and Clayton and his wife, Ardella; a daughter and her husband , Marianne and Jim Carlson of Pine River, Minn.; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, William and George, and two sisters, Jennie Marker (sic--Harker) and Ethel Heckenlively.
