Russell J. Moir Died Tuesday
Was Automobile Dealer in LeMars

Russell John Moir, born May 4, 1868, at Exeter, Ontario, Canada, passed away June 19, 1945, at his home in LeMars after a long illness.

He was the son of Alexander and Jessie Moir. He came to the Untied States with his parents and settled in Sioux county on April 17, 1882. In 1894 he was married to Lillian Harriman at LeMars. They continued to reside in Sioux county until 1902 when they left the farm and moved to LeMars.

Mr. Moir started in the automobile business a little later and continued until 1920 when he retired.

He is survived by his widow, two sons, Earl of LeMars, Lloyd, and *Mrs. Joseph Deegan, both of Orange City, and nine grandchildren. Also surviving are three brothers, Peter W. of Mitchell, S. D., Thomas of Groton, S. D., and Andrew of Andover, S. D. He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers and five sisters, a daughter, Jessie, and an infant son.

The funeral service will be held at the First Presbyterian church in LeMars of which he was a member, Friday, June 22, at 2:30 p.m., with Rev. John Oerter officiating, and burial will be in the city cemetery.

Mauer's Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

[*Note from transcriber--Alice (Moir) Deegan is the birth daughter of Peter W. Moir, a niece to Russell Moir, who came to live with and be adopted by Russell and Lillian after her mother's death, which occurred shortly after Alice's birth.]
