For Edward HughesGraveside services for Edward Leon Hughes, 67, who died Monday, Nov. 26, at the Douglas county hospital at Omaha, were at 4 p.m. Monday at LeMars city cemetery, Rev. Everett R. Major of Kingsley officiated.
Mr. Hughes was born on a farm near Akron, June 16, 1889. At the age of 8 his parents died and he went to live with an aunt and uncle at Seney, where he attended school.
He married Lybia (sic--Lydia) Bowman October 9, 1913, at LeMars (error--Cushing).
He was employed as a machinist at LeMars and Sioux City and as a truck driver at Omaha. He was in ill health for the last 10 years while employed as a gardner (sic--gardener) for the Douglas county hospital.
Survivors are the widow and a son Ralph, in California, a son, Capt. Merlin, in the air force in Dover, Del.; three sisters, Mrs. Earl Mohr of Hollywood, Cal., Mrs. William Jeffers of Haxtun, Colo., and Mrs. Mahlon Hauch (sic--Hauck) of Kingsley and five grandchildren.
