HAZEL KING

Mrs. Stanley (Hazel Mavis) King, 71, LeMars, died Wednesday (Jan. 4, 1989) at Brentwood Care Center after a seven month illness.

Funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Calvary United Methodist church in LeMars with Rev. Kenneth Royar officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Valley Cemetery, Adaville, under direction of the Mauer-Johnson Home in LeMars.

Visitation will be after 2 p.m. Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Friends and relatives are invited to a noon dinner at the church on Saturday.

The former Hazel Peck was born May 30, 1917, at Sioux City to Floyd and Hattie Spain Peck. She lived at Akron where she graduated from the Akron High School. She later moved to Hadley, Minn., and back to rural Merrill, moving into LeMars in 1961.

Her marriage to Stanley King took place Jan. 1, 1939, at Akron. She was a member of the Calvary United Methodist church, the Women’s Missionary Society, the Keystone Sunday school, Calvary Quilters, the Country Gardeners and the Christian Women’s Club.

Survivors are her husband, Stanley, LeMars; two sons and daughters-in-law, Leslie (Les) and Mary King of Sioux City and Terry and Carol King of Maryville, Mo.; a sister, Mrs. Lloyd (Sereva) Stinton, Medord, Ore.; six grandchildren, Kathryn, Karla, Jon, Kevin, Shawn and Heather.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Luverne and Harold Peck, and a grandson, Robert Warren King.
