OBITUARIES

Ernest A. Weber, 98, of LeMars, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002, at the Plymouth Manor Care Center in LeMars.

Ernest Arthur Weber was born June 17, 1904, on a farm in Plymouth County, the son of John and Elizabeth (Dohrman) Weber. He attended country school and assisted his family with farming. He also spent five years farming in South Dakota during the 1920's.

On April 21, 1931, Ernest and Lila Winifred Darville were united in marriage at Emmetsburg (note--Palo Alto county). The couple made their home on a farm in America Township in Plymouth County. They farmed there for 30 years and retired to LeMars. Mrs. Weber died Nov. 7, 1995, at Plymouth Manor Care Center. Ernest had been a resident of Plymouth Manor Care Center since Nov. 25, 1998.

Ernest was a member of the Presbyterian United Church of Christ in LeMars. In his younger years, Ernest enjoyed working with horses and hunting.

Survivors include a son, Wayne Weber and his wife, Beverly of LeMars; a daughter, Lavonne Buss and her husband, Harold, of LeMars; four grandchildren: Patrick Weber of Eau Claire, Wis., Jeffrey Weber of Norfolk, Neb., Desiree Jacob of Dallas, Texas and Carol Clay of LeMars; five great-grandchildren, Matthew Clay of Mankato, Minn., Andrew and Jennifer Clay of LeMars, and Kyra and Taj Jacob of Dallas, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lila; five brothers, Albert, John, Frank, Fred and Reuben; two sisters, Rose Weber and Susan Nussbaum.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Church of Christ in LeMars with the Rev. Tim Olsen officiating. Burial will follow at Memorial Cemetery in LeMars. Visitation will begin at 2 p.m. today (Monday) at the Mauer-Johnson Funeral Home in LeMars with the family present from 6 to 8 p.m. There will also be one hour of visitation at the church prior to the funeral.
