Evelyn M. Hansen, 91, of Remsen, died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2003. at Happy Siesta Health Care Center in Remsen.

Evelyn M. Hansen was born April 7, 1912, at rural Remsen, the daughter of John and Sophie (Scherner) Moritz. Evelyn was raised and educated in the Remsen area. On Jan. 26, 1932, she married August F. Hansen at Remsen. They made their home south of Remsen where they were engaged in farming for nearly 30 years and also owned and operated Hansen Trucking for 26 years. Mr. Hansen died Feb. 15, 1970.

Evelyn remained on the farm until 1972 when she moved into Remsen. She had been a resident of the Happy Siesta since July 12, 1999.

She was active in Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen and Ladies Aid. She loved to travel, eat out and be with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Survivors include two sons and their wives, Robert and Mary Ann of Sioux City, and Danny and Dianne of Remsen; nine grandchildren, Tania and her husband, Bernie Kostal, Kirk and his wife, Tammy Hansen, Kristin and her husband, Mike Zegers, Elizabeth and her husband, Tracey Carmean, Sarah and her husband Robert Adair Jr., Darin and his wife, Donna Hansen, Damin and his wife, Nancy Hansen, Dave and his wife, Robyn Hansen, and Dawn and her husband, Cory Radloff; 20 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Esther "Billie" Waller of Marcus.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Esther Hansen; and tw sisters, Eleanor Ohlerts and Elaine Kellen.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church in Remsen with the Rev. Roger Eggers officiating. Burial will be in the Remsen City Cemetery. Friends may call anytime after 5 p.m. today (Monday) at Christ Lutheran Church, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation will resume Tuesday from 9 a.m. until service time at the church. The Fisch Funeral Home of Remsen is in charge of arrangements.

Pallearers will be grandchildren.
