M. J. Lancaster Dies at Hospital

M. J. (Middleton John) Lancaster, 80, LeMars, died Sunday [Dec. 3, 1967] at Floyd Valley hospital after an illness of several months. He had been hospitalized 10 days.

Mr. Lancaster, a member of Seney Methodist church, had long been active in community and Seney affairs. He was a member of township committees and the school board.

He was born Aug. 3, 1887, in Elgin township, and was a liftlong resident of Plymouth county. He was a retired farmer.

Jan. 1, 1913 he was married to Rosabelle Beattie at Glenville, Minn. His parents were the late Edwin M. and Mary Alice (Alderson), Lancaster.

Funeral services will be Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Seney Methodist church, with burial in the Seney cemetery under direction of the Mauer funeral home. Rev. Milo Morris will officiate and a prayer service will be held at 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Survivors are his wife, Rosabelle, LeMars; five sons, Edwin B. of Mount Kisco, N. Y., Edgar O. of Orange City, George Wesley of Ankeny, William S. and Robert L. of LeMars; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Evelyn) Anderson, Aurora, Ill., and Mrs. Dean (Bonnie) Shaw, Clarkfield, Minn., and 26 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Vincent and Ira Lancaster, and two sisters, Mrs. Edward Buss and Mrs. Elizabeth Hawkins.
